quickie doodle between working that turned into a painting.
first time i used sai so it was nice trying out paper textures etc.

the marks under his eyes are little salt crystals that form on his skin from an internal desalination process so he can drink the water (kind of like a penguin!). they can be brushed away.
In the species culture, one of the ways of wooing them is by catching them a big fish. 030 ooo that explains the look in his eye

(i plan to post more about it, eventually)

edit- i just realised after looking on my boyfriends monitor that the colours are way too high in contrast :S so i'll have to try and fix that in the morning}

I love the simplety of the colors, it really makes the character stand out, and gives it almost an animated look. The texture really does a good work :0
